Middle-Earth Enterprieses
Middle-earth Enterprises, formerly known as Tolkien Enterprises, is a subdivision of the Embracer Freemode division of Embracer Group. It owns the worldwide exclusive rights to certain elements of J. R. R. Tolkien's most famous literary works, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The rights were originally sold by Tolkien to United Artists in 1969, then acquired by The Saul Zaentz Company in 1976, which established Tolkien Enterprises in 1977. The name was changed to Middle-earth Enterprises in 2010. The company handles licensing for films, merchandise, stage productions, and other rights related to Tolkien's works and was acquired by the Embracer Group in 2022. Middle-earth Enterprises has been integral in bringing various adaptations and merchandise based on Tolkien’s universe to audiences worldwide.
